The recent General Assembly passed a bill that
offers some hope for a solution of the school building
problems in Mt. Gilead District. This bill authorizes the
school board of Mt. Gilead District to borrow not to exceed
$37000 for use in building school houses at Hamilton, Purcellville,
and Bluemont. Provision is made that the money can not be incont
borrowed except with the approval of the county board of
supervisors and that the loans can not be for E term of more
than five years.
The school board will request the board of supervisors
at the next meeting on March 27th to give **** authority to
borrow as much of the amount as may be necessary to build the
school houses at the three points this year.
It is the plan of the school board to apply at once for
a loan from the State Literary Fund for two-thirds of the cost
the
of each of/buildings and to use the proceeds of this loan
when secured to pay off as much as possible of the loans made
this summer. The loans would not in crease the school tax rate
In fairness to our senator and two delegates it should bexix
spriclact
said that the responsibility for this set are assumed entirely
by school trustees and supervisor of Mt. 0 Gilead District and
by the division superintendent.
